Do It For The Kids
"Do
It For The Kids/Children Foundation" was founded by Milton Bullock
in Virginia in 1980, and in the last 20 years it has grown into the award
winning youth organization it is today. The focus is on at-risk youth
- offering alternatives to kids who don't always have other opportunities.
The goal of the Foundation is to provide musical programs and guidance
to expose young peope to core-values and spiritual integrity. Kids are
drawn from schools, from state penal systems, and from the street with
the promise of allowing them to fulfill their full potential. Mr. Bullock
has been able to use his celebrity status, along with friends such as
Muhammed Ali and Magic Johnson, to enforce principles of self-respect
and self-accountability. The foundation also donates money to the Parkinsons
Disease Foundation in Muhammed Ali's honor and to scholarships for at
risk kids.
Recently, Milton Bullock, Founder of, 'Do It For The Childrens' Foundation, and the youth of The Princeville Montesorri El. School in North Carolina have united their energies and forces to help rid the community of gun violence, drug trafficking and the non-productive activities that are effecting a higher standard of community living at-large.
Mr. Bullock a/k/a, 'The Golden Platter' paid a welcomed visit to his childhood neighborhood last month. During his visit at the Princeville Montesorri Elementary School, he distributed 200 booklets titled; "What Works--SCHOOLS WITHOUT DRUGS", published by the United States Department of Education.
His youth foundation/organization, is responsible for distributing more than 10,000,000 (ten million) of these informative booklets, nationwide! The strategy behind distribution of these pamphlets to the youth is; "getting at least one copy into the homes of the children, who may know of incidents that are (or) could be developing into gun violence, or drug trafficking, or abuse right there within their homes", says Bullock.
At least the information is being made available for the children. It's there for them to be able to make a 'common-sense choice or judgement call' about what's going to make a negative impact upon their present lives. As well as effect their hopes and dreams for a brighter tomorrow.
We are not asking the children to be a 'stoole pigeon' (per say). But in the event there's a life or death situation in the making, they will be better prepared to recognize it! And make that 'common sense judgement call' for help! A call that can come just a few seconds early, before its too late!
This awareness of and the arming of the children with these tools of prevention have always been embraced by responsible, caring communities. Communities who have their heads out of the sand. Communities who dare to look the wretchedness and the evil forces right dead in the face.
The Children and Mr. Bullock have made a commitment to join forces and work efficiently and effectively to make this a safe community once more! Safe for all of its residents, the young and the elderly alike. Your prayers are most definitely welcome.
The
new millennium will bring new challenges and Mr. Bullock is finding new
ways to give kids a good start. He has a busy schedule of motivational
speaking engagements at area schools on behavior, anger management and
the development of self respect.
